Avery Smith Returns to Motor City

A fan favorite is returning to the Motor City Rockers.
On Wednesday, the Rockers announced that they had acquired Avery Smith from the Topeka Scarecrows in return for their first round pick in the 2026 dispersal draft.


Smith, an Indiana Tech alum, spent parts of two seasons with the Rockers before being traded ahead of the 2025 trade deadline to Athens.


In 46 games played in the purple and black, Smith amassed 29 points, including 15 goals and 14 assists.


Last season with the Topeka Scarecrows, Smith notched 25 points in 47 games.

Smith is not only a factor on the score sheet, but also brings a physical edge to his game. Checking in at 6-foot-3-inches and, 229 pounds, Smith's blend of physicality and skill has made him a mainstay in every teams lineup.


Smith's play has not gone unnoticed, last season the Allen Americans called up smith for a seven game stretch that included a game winning goal versus the Tulsa Oilers.
