Fairways and Football: Rockers hold second annual Golf Outing

The Motor City Rockers hosted the second team Golf Outing in as many years. What is becoming an annual tradition saw fans and former players take the greens once again at Fern Hill Golf Club in Clinton Township.

The event featured a Closest-to-the-pin Challenge as well as a Hit-the-bottle Putting Challenge. The Rockers thank Detroit City Distillery and Smokey Joe's for both being hole sponsors and for helping provide prizes for those events and other raffle items. An additional thank you to Floodz Grill for serving lunch on the turn for the golfers.

Of course, the event was non-competitive and served its purpose in drumming up fellowship amongst the fanbase, but that didn't stop the foursome led by former players Sam Gagnon and James Kakos from having a great day at the office - their group topped the leaderboard in the end.

Following the golf portion, attendees enjoyed a meal served by Sopranos Catering in one of Fern Hill Golf Club's beautiful banquet rooms. Slash made an appearance, ownership and management shared that an announcement regarding the team's future home is imminent (waiting to cross a few more hurdles).

A great Sunday was capped off by watching the Detroit Lions cruise to a 34-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

A special thanks goes out once again to Fern Hill Golf Club for being gracious hosts, and to anyone who attended - fans, former players, event helpers. Thank you!
