Motor City Trades Colton For Alanko, Leiffers.

The Motor City Rockers have traded Josh Colten to the Fresno Falcons for forwards Roni Alanko and Eli Lieffers.

Colton was a captain for the Rockers during the 2024-25 season. He leaves the Rockers second all time in scoring.

In exchange for the former captain, Motor City brings in two players with size and scoring ability.

Alanko, a native of Helsinki, Finland, has played the last two seasons in the USPHL.

During the 2024-25 season. Alanko racked up 90 points including 47 goals in just 27 games for the Vernal Oilers of the USPHL.

Alanko played last season for the Grand Junction River Hawks of the National Collegiate Development Conference in the USPHL where he tallied 24 points in 18 games. He finished last season playing 10 games in division two in Sweeden.

Alanko brings tremendous size to the purple and black. Standing 6'7" and at 250 pounds Alanko will be a force on the ice.

Joining Alanko is Eli Lieffers. 

Lieffers, who checks in at 6'5" and 209 pounds, will continue to add size and physicality to the front lines.

A Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native, Lieffers played junior hockey and collegiate hockey throughout Canada. 

After spending four seasons at Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, Lieffers found his way to the ECHL, where he played 25 games for the Wheeling Nailers.

Last season Lieffers split time between the Athens Rock Lobsters and playing overseas in France.

The Motor City Rockers open camp on October 6th, with the first game on October 16 in Minnesota. Leiffers and Alanko will drop the puck on pro hockey in Downriver on Saturday, October 24th against Port Huron.
