Franchise Announcement for 2022-2023 FPHL Season

New Ownership Group Picks Up Motor City Rockers Hockey Club, Ready To Roll Fall 2022

After COVID struggles squandered the team’s original launch in 2020, a new ownership group is poised to bring professional hockey back to Big Boy Arena for the first time in 15+ years.

FRASER, MI – The Motor City Rockers are officially the newest members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) and will begin their inaugural season this fall at 3,400-seat-capacity Big Boy Arena located at 34400 Utica Road in Fraser, MI.

The Rockers were originally scheduled to begin play in 2020, but COVID struggles delayed and ultimately terminated the team’s launch. Today, a new ownership group comprised of seven local business owners and professionals has resurrected the team, retaining the original name, colors, and logos- which were fan favorites when the team was originally announced in 2020.

The Rockers enter the league as the 10th member of the FPHL, joining teams from New York, Connecticut, Georgia, North Carolina, Delaware, Mississippi and in-state Port Huron.

The Rockers new ownership group are very passionate about the sport and are invested in bringing high-quality professional ice hockey to the Metro-Detroit area in a family and budget friendly fashion.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring the Rockers to Metro Detroit,” said Nick Field, ownership member and General Manager. “This is something we’ve been working on for a couple of years and we intend to deliver a competitive, entertaining, game-day experience for all of our fans who love hockey as much as we do.”
