Rockers Fall to Danbury

On both Friday and Saturday night, Motor City suffered defeat against the Danbury Hat Tricks. Fresh off the bus from Watertown, the Rockers faced off with the Hat Tricks at Danbury Ice Arena.

The Friday night hockey game started off relatively calm. The period looked like it was about to end scoreless but after a turn over from Motor City, Danbury was able to end the first with a 1-0 lead.

The second period was met with more goals from Danbury and the Rockers unable to match the Hat Tricks intensity. The period ended with the Rockers behind 4-0.

Even after the intermission, the Rockers were not able to match the energy of the Danbury Hat Tricks, as Danbury scored two more quick goals at the beginning of the third, now leading 6-0.

The Rockers were able to get a little bit figured out at the end of the period with a goal from Josh Colten and another from Dylan Johnson, but the Hat Tricks had it down at that point. Danbury ended up scoring one more, and the game ended with Rockers losing, 7-2.

Saturday night was a bit better for Motor City, but the Rockers were still unable to take down the Hat Tricks.

Danbury put the first point up, with a goal about halfway through the first period. The Rockers quickly followed in pursuit though, with a goal from Declan Conway on Motor City’s dangerous power play. The period ended tied, 1-1.

Danbury was able to score two more goals in the first half of the second period before Dante Suffredini was able to put one up for the Rockers. The Rockers trailed by one at the end of the second.

However, Danbury was able to finish the Rockers off by scoring two more goals, even as the Rockers tried to battle away on offense. The game ended with the Rockers losing 5-2.

The Rockers record is now 12-5-3 and they are still placed 2nd in the Continental Division in the FPHL. Motor City takes on the Carolina Thunderbirds this weekend on Friday the 16th at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 7 pm. Carolina is ranked 3rd in the Continental Division. Saturday the 17th is the Rockers Teddy Bear Toss promotion night.
